Any day where the temperature reaches 104° F (40° C) is noteworthy but that it should be in September is especially so (although it only ties the record high for this day, 104° F being recorded in 1984).

So the sun behind all this heat deserves a photograph or two, I thought. Over the Mississippi on a cloudless day at about 7:30 p.m. and a temperature even then of 96° F (36° C).
