I was walking alongside the pond by the New Harmony Inn in New Harmony, Indiana, this morning when two swans glided up to the bank. They spent about ten minutes grooming themselves before they moved away. Probably expecting some food, but I had none. They were lovely to look at. A different type of bird, to be sure, but watching swans gives me lot more pleasure than watching eagles.

😀 Well, it is a very meditative place, New Harmony.

"Except a Wake of Music / Accompany their feet / As did the Down emit a Tune / For Ecstasy of it" (Dickinson). They are beautiful. One of the nicest things to be on the planet for. Just a suggestion: Send them in to Audubon Magazine, if their rules permit.

Swans have always fascinated me–so gentle-looking, and can be so very vicious.Kinda like some of our current crop of "celebrities," I guess, huh?:lol:Beautiful shots.

Oh don't get our Opera friend Martin going about dangerous swans. Or pine trees either. :p

Too true, too true.Swans can be aggressive (although I find geese to be more of threat that way myself) but provided you treat them with respect, they behave themselves. I guess that's true of most of us! 😀

yep …. that's for sure! When I go for walks around the lake I see similar scenes but I've never been there at the exact moment when I should have pressed the button and captured something like your excellent shot. Guess I'm a tad more adept with street scenes and longer distance shots and as you say…. "…you take what you can get!"

Yes, I like that one too, Loku. I wished they had got a little closer to each other so I could frame them more tightly, but with photography you take what you can get!
