We're at the beginning of what promises to be the most severe winter storm to hit St. Louis in many years. I've just read that Governor Nixon has declared a state of emergency.

I made it home relatively easily, although the Metro train with its overhead powerlines was wheezing and crackling even at that stage. Now buses are being pressed into service to back up the very delayed trains. I wonder how long it will be before they stop running altogether?

This shot, taken from the front porch, is likely to be emphatically more pronounced by tomorrow. I might just be staying home as well.
