I spent a very enjoyable early evening with Rose Tidwell and friends Jenny and Laura last night. A chance for me to photograph Rose's chess pieces in their garden setting.
Here's the king, fresh from battle with braised eye and slashed skin.
All the pieces have considerable charm, but if I had to choose a favorite, it would be the glass-bead decorated pawn. Rose asked me to touch its head. It was very hot after a day sopping up sunlight. A hot-headed pawn – yes, my kind of chess piece.
Wow, that's pretty cool. I just recently saw photos of a house for sale that had a chessboard next to the pool with life-sized marble chess pieces. Do people really play chess on these boards?!
The colors and the way the darkness is advancing in the top photo make the chessboard look as if it is going to come to life! I can almost hear the Queen shouting Off With Their Heads!
Good question, Star – perhaps they do! Jenny, glad you like that effect – I enhanced the contrast and boosted the color in that picture. 🙂
I think my favorite is the top of the champagne bottle. :drunk:
😆 Nice one, YP.
So cool! 😎
They do look better in the natural setting. :up:Glad you had a good time!
They are cool in Rose's garden. She's slowly accumulating a complete set! Thanks for your comments, Naomi & Edward. 🙂
