I love the sun. I really do. I've undoubtedly devoted the majority of my photography to capturing it on camera.
I do not love what it does to St. Louis during summer. Apart from the occasional thunderstorm, it travels unimpeded across the blue skies of the day, skies that grow heavier with ozone and particulate pollution as the season progresses. This year is looking like a scorcher – already June's weather statistics from the NOAA:
[TEMPERATURE DATA]
AVERAGE MONTHLY: 79.5
DPTR FM NORMAL: 5.2
HIGHEST: 95 ON 18,13
LOWEST: 65 ON 10
show a 5.2 F above normal average temperate and the forecast is for an upcoming week of high 90s.
Bleah!

You know it is hot when my dog refuses to go for a walk.

😆 Mine too!

😆 That you do. Our cat ventures out onto the back porch and flops down there until she gets too hot and miouws to be let in.

We've been seeing temps in the 100's the last two or three weeks. Unbelievable. I don't remember a June this hot. Ever.

Ugh! It's at least a little better here, Star. But not much. Yes, this is definitely one of the hottest Junes I've known.

Maybe the global warming doubters should move to St. Louis for a summer. :p

Given that a lot of us base our sense of the world on what's happening immediately around us, I suspect there will be a shift back to belief in global warning this year. 🙂
