It's a cold day.

Too cold to encourage photography. Add to that a gray, monochromatic sky and the best I felt like doing was stepping outside the house. This view is from the street looking upwards.

We've lived in this house since 1995. Never felt any desire to leave. I drive through the outer suburbs and see barn-sized, siding-clad buildings and wonder what on earth I would do with all that space. Let alone heat and cool it. No, let others enjoy them. A snug house, a blazing wood fire warming the whole building, that's enough for me.

This holiday season is especially pleasant. My mother is visiting, I have a little time off work, and it's a treat to enjoy my home.
