My friend and work colleague Rati brought me a few of these Indian sweetmeats from her recent trip to India.

What you see is real silver, beaten micrometer thin, and coated onto, in this case, a delicious cashew paste. You don't peel it off. You eat the silver. It's called varakh, doesn't have a taste, and I find it quite delightful to eat.

Not a liking shared by any of the non-Indians at my workplace who can't quite get round to the idea of eating a precious metal. All the more for me, then. 🙂
