The Daily Telegraph has been running a week long exposé of British Members of Parliament and their corrupt abuse of a very opaque expense account system.
It makes for thoroughly disillusioning reading. Public money used to renovate houses that are then sold for a tidy – and often untaxed profit – as well as claims for, amongst other things, cleaning a moat around a country estate, and for mortgage payments on a house that had already been paid for. Some illegal, some irresponsible, some petty. Enough, even, to taint those whose claims have been fair and honorable. The fall-out has been a wave of public revulsion, one that is likely to have unpredictable and possibly dangerous consequences – as in the election of members of the far-right and racist British National Party, currently a fringe group.
Greed knows no bounds.

I have for some years had little faith in the integrity of my elected leaders and this scandal really has destroyed what little faith remained, scum is the only word that I can think of to describe so many of them who stick their noses in the trough whilst honest folks struggle to make ends meet in theses recssionary times.I will not vote mainstream in these upcoming elections and may have to spoil my ballot because whilst I can vote UKIP or Green as a protest if BNP are the only option I could never vote for a rascist party

I think I'll stick with the British high-class call girl scandals. Which are much more juicy. And the photos are hotter.Well anyway. What always gets me here are the members of Congress who use taxpayer money to go on these "fact finding" trips. You know, like Paris. Just before Christmas. Or maybe an all important trip to Hawaii to find out more about Tiki drinks.
