I've been reorganizing files spread over too many hard drives this weekend. I came across this scan of a negative taken on a day trip to France in summer, 1998. My father, wife and little son are sitting in a typical French streetside cafe in some village that I don't recall.

These days my son is taller than my wife, but she and my father do not look that different. Ten years; seems like both a long and a short time.

My main memory of this day is buying and then losing a little red toy car for my boy. That, and a wonderful meal in a French riverside restaurant.

So few photographs from those days. It's strange to remember – film was very limiting.
