Taken on a grey, bland, and overcast day.
I perked up what was a rather blah landscape by applying a linear contrast function. Now it looks more like the moody land and seascape that I imagine Bonnie Prince Charlie fled through after the horror of the The Battle of Culloden.
That's beautiful. Bleakly majestic.I assume linear contrast function is in photoshop? I'm looking for an equivalent in GIMP, but I only see reference to the term with regards to color printing.
Thanks, Matt. 🙂 It was a linear contrast function that comes with the Canon Digital Photo Professional program, applying to RAW format digital images. I use this program a lot; it's not that heavy in features, but covers most of what I need.
That's a very pretty photo, Richard.Thanks for sharing.
My pleasure, Stardancer. 🙂
When I hit the lottery, I'm going to get a camera that lets me save RAW format files. I love my little camera, but I hate the restictive file format. 😦
Great greys
Lovely. I was born in Dunfermline, Fifeshire, Scotland and raised in England. I am therefore a Scots-born Englishman 🙂
Thanks, Allan & Loku. I love Scotland, Loku, parts of it are as close to a perfect landscape as anything I can imagine. 🙂
Matt, being able to process RAW (i.e. non-compressed) image files direct from the camera is very helpful. It allows you to make a lot of changes without degrading the quality of your image in any way.
😆
"I love Scotland, Loku, parts of it are as close to a perfect landscape as anything I can imagine. " I'll ski to that!
😀
wow, that would make a cool background for a battle scene. i really got into reading about bonnie prince charles. british history is so rich in romantic events. this is kind of sad.my allegiance has always been with the stuarts.our clan, cumming or comyn are from a highlander county far in the north. once kings, always troublemakers. :cool:thanks for the tour.
Beautiful! A definite wall-hanging one.
