Bird watching is for the birds!

Half a mile away (at least), sitting on a treeline on the far banks of the Mississippi on one bitterly cold and windy Monday afternoon are a troop of American eagles.

Not that you really make out too much, even with a 400mm zoom perched on a tripod that is rapidly cooling to the point of freezing my hand onto it.

However, there they are. Looking quite content and perfectly happy to sit there until I turned into ice. Which I chose not to do, and no doubt as soon as I left they took to the air presenting a series of close-ups that I never got the chance to take.

Or maybe not.
