A most curious dream this morning, between 6 and 7 a.m.

I was with my father and perhaps some other family members. It was a bright sunny day, and we were sitting at a lunch on a sloping hillside. As we ate, I noticed tents and marquees going up all around us and lots of people gathering.

The next time I looked up, the green grassy hillside had been transformed to white – not by snow, but by thousands of flowers. Rhododendron or magnolia – large, bright, luminous flowers.

"The President is coming", someone shouted and I looked around for my camera. I could not find it, and when I did, the lenses were missing. I ran around and around looking for them, all the while conscious that some historic moment was coming and going and I was going to miss it.

As I searched, someone told me this was a memorial service. But all I heard from the President were jokes and laughter.

Then I woke up – and wished again I could see that field of white flower.

So I radically altered an old photograph using Photoshop. Not quite right, but close.
