It's raining outside, quite heavily. Too dark to see, I can only judge it by the hissing splash on the road surface, and the gush from our overflowing gutters.
Rain – it's extraordinary stuff. Today, at lunch with my friend Mary at 1111 Mississippi, I was looked out of the window to catch the sight of a short shower coming out of a largely blue sky. I was struck with a sense of wonder that liquid could materialize from gas and pour out of the sky. For some reason, this seemed like a novel thought, and that in itself is a wonder considering how many years I have lived and how much rain I have experienced.
Nonetheless, there it was. This sense of astonishment. Perhaps today I feel more in tune with the natural world. Something is a little different. It will be interesting to see how this feeling develops.
