…and I can be thankful I do not need to pop an Ambien like a good number of my friends and work associates and America for that matter in order to settle down to a good night's sleep.
I like sleeping. I think it is one of the best things you can do, and I'm always astonished at those who regard it as an inconvenience to be avoided as much as possible.
Apart from the very real psychological and physical hurt that comes with not getting enough sleep, there is also the denial of the joy and wonder of dreams. Dreams are to be coveted; even the perplexing, strange and sometimes scary ones. In dreams you step out of the restrictive world of conscious thought and enter more expansive realms.
That is something to treasure.
